The Fuzzy Duck is located in the small village of Armscote, Stratford Upon Avon in the Cotswolds. They are in the Michelin Guide and has an AA rosette award for culinary excellence. The Fuzzy Duck is not only a restaurant but also a boutique hotel and wedding venue.
We were looking for a good lunch stop to round up our holiday on the way home, and with such good awards and reviews we knew we had to try The Fuzzy Duck.
When we arrived there was a large car park that opened out onto their lovely beer garden. It was early February when we visited, but had it been the summer we would’ve loved to eat and spend time in the beautiful garden.
As we were there on a Tuesday lunch time it was very quiet, and we pretty much had the place to ourselves. Inside the restaurant is modern and well designed; with a traditional pub bar, fireplace, wine room and various art work.
They do not have a light lunch menu, as the dinner menu is an all day menu. However everything sounded lovely and we settled on a traditional English meal of fish and chips! However this wasn’t an ordinary pub grub type of fish and chips. The fish was beautifully battered and fried, the chips were thick, soft and well seasoned, and the peas were creamed and also well seasoned. I am not normally a fan of pureed or mushy peas, but these tasted amazing! They certainly deserved all the awards!
After lunch and before our long drive home, I wanted to use the facilities. The Fuzzy Duck should also win awards for the number of different soap options on offer! There must’ve been 20 different options, with different brands and scents. It took me ages to decide which one to use. You can also buy the soaps from the reception if you particularly like one!
I would rate The Fuzzy Duck 5 stars, the food, service and surroundings were lovely. We really enjoyed our meal and time here and if passing again, I would 100% visit again.
